Chesapeake Regional Association of student Councils (CRASC) held their second officer information night on Wednesday, May 1st at the Parham Building. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the positions available, ask questions, see the Secretary of Education in action, and experience a typical Board of Education (BOE) meeting.

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils hosts Student Member of the Board Debate

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) hosted the Student Member of the Board (SMOB) Televised Debate on Thursday, April 4th. The three SMOB finalists, Rida Alvi, Tyler Bailey, and Charmi Patel, answered questions pertaining submitted by CRASC, students, and other members of the community. The Debate was an opportunity for the SMOB candidates to discuss their platforms before the SMOB election.

CRASC discusses upcoming General Assembly, SMOB, and more at weekly meeting

The Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) held their first regular meeting since the Student Member of the Board (SMOB) information night and campaign clinics on Wednesday, March 6th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Parham Building. While SMOB events were discussed, it was not the primary focus of the meeting and the CRASC Constitution, selection of SMOB interview panel members, upcoming General Assembly (GA) at George Fox Middle School, and new CRASC t-shirt design were important agenda topics.

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils holds final Student Member of the Board campaign clinic

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) held their final clinic for Student Member of the Board (SMOB) elections on Wednesday, February 27th at Old Mill High School. It was a split meeting, with a mock panel for the SMOB nominees the first half of the meeting and the regular agenda the second half.

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils holds first Student Member of the Board campaign clinic

The Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils’ (CRASC) held a clinic for Student Member of the Board (SMOB) nominees along with their regular meeting on Wednesday, February 13th at Arundel High School. Nominees were taught how to form a platform and participated in a few exercises that helped them pinpoint their most important traits before CRASC ran through their regular agenda.

Process for Student Member of the Board election begins

Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) held an informational meeting about the upcoming Student Member of the Board (SMOB) election process. It was the first of three informative meetings, at which attendees learned about nomination, campaigning, election, appointment, and expectations. The SMOB is an equal member of the board in vote and merit, works on committees, and advocates for all AACPS students, but the position is only open to rising seniors.
