Board of Education for AACPS votes in support of bill to create training for special education advocates

The Board of Education (BOE) for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) voted to support Maryland Senate Bill (SB) 1016 during the meeting of the board on Wednesday, March 20th. Accusations of bias and discrimination fly at latest Crofton Area High School redistricting meeting

The Board of Education (BOE) for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) held a meeting open to public comment on the proposals for redistricting for the Crofton Area High School on Tuesday, March 19th at Arundel High School. At the meeting, parents and community members made claims of discrimination and bias towards the proposals, redistricting committee, and other attendees.

The Board of Education for AACPS revises and adopts Dr. Arlotto’s recommended budget

The Board of Education (BOE) for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) adopts a $172 million capital budget and a $1.27 billion operating budget for fiscal year (FY) 2020 during the meeting of the board on Monday, February 25th.

Arundel’s Global Community Citizenship Class becomes a countywide graduation requirement

The Board of Education (BOE) for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) passed a motion 8-0 on Wednesday, February 6th making the Global Community Citizenship class, which was piloted at Arundel High School, a countywide graduation requirement starting in the 2019-2020 school year.

Members of The Board of Education for AACPS elect new President and Vice President

During the bi-weekly Board of Education meeting for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) on Wednesday, February 6th, former board Vice President, Terry Gilleland was elected President and Josie Urrea was elected Vice President of the Board. Urrea, a senior at Severna Park High School and the current Student Member of the Board (SMOB), is the youngest Vice President to serve on the board.
