UMBC lacrosse beats number 1 seed Albany for second historic win in a month

By Jordan Johnson

UMBC likes beating number 1 seeds. Once again the retrievers have pulled off another historic upset, this time in men’s lacrosse as they beat the top ranked Albany Great Danes 11-7 at home, on Friday night.

Junior midfielder Billy Nolan, an Arundel Alum, led the team with 3 goals and 2 assists and has been a focal part of the retrievers offense for the last 2 seasons. Freshman Ben Keller also added 2 goals as well.

The UMBC  Athletics Twitter account of course tweeted about it, challenging Alabama Football despite UMBC not having a football team themselves.

For the Retrievers, it’s a much needed conference win and could propel them as they head into the rest of conference play. They sit at 3-7 on the year and will likely need to win the America East Conference tournament in order to make it to the NCAA tournament.
