After coming off of a close 5 set victory against South River, Arundel looked to beat Broadneck in a swift fashion. The Wildcats did just that in their sweep against the Bruins last Tuesday and advance to a record of 11-0. Arundel started off strong with an early 25-13 victory in the first set, and ended up winning the second set 25-22, and the third 25-15.
With this win under their wing, Arundel looks to play for the county championship at Meade on October 30th, this will be their second consecutive appearance where they won in lost to South River in a tough match last year. After facing a heartbreaking 3-2 set loss to Sherwood in the state semifinals last year, Arundel looks to go deep in the state tournament again this year, and hopes that the momentum from their season helps lift them to the top.
When asked if she thinks that the Sherwood loss last year has helped motivate the team this year, head coach Mrs. Yuscavage said, “Yes, I think it’s given us a good idea on what we’ve had to build on this year.”
As the regular season comes to a close, the Wildcats will start to set their eyes on the upcoming road to states, and their motivation from last year’s stunning loss has helped push them to the top so far.
