Wildcats Explain: Photography

By Esra Mahgoub

Photography isn’t just a click of a button. It’s a race against time.

Blink—and that picture perfect moment is gone. You can’t just sit around waiting for that perfect moment, you have to find it, but sometimes. when you’re not out looking for it, you’ll find it come to you. Just as the sunset shines its last illuminating colors of the evening, look back in 30 seconds, and you’ll find a dark, black sky instead. And when you find that picture-perfect moment, nothing else will matter in the world.

It’s ‘love at first sight,’ like when you see that special someone walk down the street, and everything around them is out of focus. You’ll stop at nothing to find them, because if you don’t, that picture-perfect moment is gone forever.

At the end of the day, browsing through the photos, you’ll feel as if you’re reliving the moment; a picture with a train speeding along the track, bringing a blast of wind through a small pixel screen. And when you finally capture that picture-perfect moment you’ve been chasing high and low for, a feeling of content like no other will come over you, but it doesn’t last long, because tomorrow you’ll do it all over again.
