Wizards in fight for 2nd seed, poised for deep playoff run

By Jordan Johnson

The Washington Wizards, led by Guards John Wall and Bradley Beal, are having an excellent season and are poised for a playoff run under 1st year coach Scott Brooks.

They sit at a record of 42-28 and in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and already have matched their 41 wins that they had last year. They are currently in a fight for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference and could even get the top spot should the Boston Celtics or the Cleveland Cavaliers slide. They lost to Boston 110-102 last night.
John Wall is averaging a double- double with 23.2 points and 10.7 assists per game. He is helped out by fellow guard Brad Beal who signed a max contract last year and is averaging 23.2 points per game himself.

In my opinion the real X-factors to a Wiz championship run are forwards Bogan Bogdanovic and Otto Porter Jr. Bogdanovic has been playing great since being acquired from the Brooklyn Nets and has been a great three-point shooter off the bench for the Wiz. Bogdanovic started in Brooklyn so he has the ability to fill in should head coach Scott Brooks need him in the starting lineup. Otto Porter has finally hit his stride in his 3rd NBA season. He cracked the starting lineup this season and is now averaging a career high 14 points and 6.6. Rebounds per game this season.

Bottom line: The Wizards are going to have to rely on stellar play from their star guards along with contributions from others if they want to go deep in the playoffs and secure a spot in the NBA finals.
