Maryland Women’s Basketball Poised For deep NCAA Tournament Run

At 23-1 the Maryland Women’s Basketball team is off to their strongest start in school history with their only blemish being a loss to unbeaten UCONN.

They are on a current 11 game winning streak and are unbeaten in conference play. Center Brionna Jones leads the team with 19.2 points per game and has a shooting percentage of around 70 percent.  She also leads the team with 10.4 rebounds per game which shows that she is a major asset to this team both offensively and defensively.

I feel this team is a championship caliber team. They showed in their loss against UCONN that they can play at a championship level as they were only a few plays away from beating the best women’s basketball team of this decade. They only lost that game by six. Six is a key number too as that is the smallest margin of victory that the Terps have had this season. This proves that they are handily beating the teams they are supposed to beat. If it were my call, I’d put the Terps in the final four as it stands now.

They will look to continue their win streak tonight as they will face the Illinois Fighting Illini tonight at the Xfinity center in College Park.
